R6 2CO rear brake calliper
I have a rear brake calliper for sale for a 2CO Yamaha R6. I bought it from eBay with the intentions of adding it to my FZR600 but haven't bothered. It's in great condition. Even comes with pads. Currently back on UK eBay if anyone is in need of it. I'm happy to take it down from eBay if someone wan...

Re: Rear brake binding and locking wheel
Ah right. Yes I did see that when I stripped the master cylinder. I'll try cleaning that out and see what happens.
Thanks for that.

Rear brake binding and locking wheel
Hi Guys, I recently installed a new rear brake master cylinder on my 1989 FZR. I went for a Brembo master cylinder from an R6. When trying to bleed the rear brake I broke one bleed nipple from the original calliper, as it was rusted tight! So i replaced the calliper with one from eBay that cost £40 ...

Re: New Coils, leads and plug caps. Now won't start
That's a good point. I haven't clean anything out with air or wire. I did take the carbs apart completely though. So all of the jets and emulsion tubes came out and got cleaned individually. I then sprayed carb cleaner through everything. I haven't fully checked the emulsion tubes. They're all intac...

Re: New Coils, leads and plug caps. Now won't start
It wasn't too bad, as I didn't pay anything for his service. I have recently sonic cleaned the carbs fully and re-assembled them. The bike runs much better and bogs down less, however it is still bogging down at anything over 1/2 throttle. It bogs down from around 6k rpm to the redline. So it's stil...

Re: New Coils, leads and plug caps. Now won't start
Quick update on this one. I managed to get the floats adjusted to a correct height and the bike was running well. But there was still an issue with opening the throttle more than half, which causes the bike to bog down throughout the rev range. I took it to my local mechanic (a Yamaha specialist), a...

Re: New Coils, leads and plug caps. Now won't start
Ok, update on the bike. I took it for a ride after changing the oil today. It seemed to idle well. When riding it though it still bogged down massively when I pull the throttle anything over a 1/4 turn. When I returned from the ride I noticed a fuel smell. Took the airbag off and one of the overflow...

Re: New Coils, leads and plug caps. Now won't start
Excellent. Thanks for that. It's probably a much more accurate way of doing things compared to the way that I did it.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: New Coils, leads and plug caps. Now won't start
Update: The bike is now running!! The floats were set way too low, so i raised them up to 24mm (measuring from the edge of the carb bowl to the highest corner of the float). The bike pretty much fired straight up with the choke on and then ran without the choke within a couple of seconds. Previous t...

Re: New Coils, leads and plug caps. Now won't start
Excellent. Thanks for that. I'll try the float height adjustment and then I may just bite the bullet and buy some rebuild parts.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: New Coils, leads and plug caps. Now won't start
Many thanks for the help guys. Much appreciated. Buzzawak - I'll certainly try this method over the weekend/Monday and I'll record it. We'll go from there. Britx303 - I'm not too sure what's available in the ways of new emulsion tubes etc. here in the UK ether. I can get hold of new gaskets and floa...

Re: New Coils, leads and plug caps. Now won't start
I'm not too sure what the float valve height is. Is there a way to check this? They looked to be in good condition when I took the carbs apart.
Mileage is 43k. A full rebuild sounds expensive! But I'm sure it's worth it.
Thanks for the advice.

Re: New Coils, leads and plug caps. Now won't start
Quick update from trying to start the bike again today. Managed to get it running very roughly once again for a couple of seconds after adjusting the air/fuel mix screw right down to 1 turn out. Here's a video of the single time that it started today: https://vimeo.com/257519720 Then it just refused...

Re: New Coils, leads and plug caps. Now won't start
Update on this: So today I've done the following: - Emptied the fuel tank (fuel had been sitting in there for a few months). - Got all of the crap out of the bottom of the fuel tank and put in some fresh fuel After a few tries and more very loud bangs from the exhaust I managed to get it started for...

Re: New Coils, leads and plug caps. Now won't start
Nope, not yet. I've been away but am going to have another crack at it tomorrow.
I've leaned the air/fuel mixture out a bit and tried to start it a couple of times to no joy. Battery is currently being charged off the bike and I'll see if that affects anything when I try tomorrow.
