Re: I think I broke something...

check all the fuses. I had one burn out part way that was causing all sorts of funky issues Thanks for the tip...I checked the fuses when I first noticed the problem and they all seemed fine. I did end up figuring out what the problem was...the connector on the wiring harness for the ignition switc...

Re: I think I broke something...

The plot thickens... So I got my new ignition switch...went to install it. I decided to check the old one out with a multimeter and it actually acted as it was supposed to...no continuity between the wires in the off position, good continuity in the on position...so that likely wasn't the problem (n...

Re: I think I broke something...

I finally got my new ignition switch, and I'm looking at how the existing one is bolted on/connected. Looks pretty straight forward but is there anything I should watch for when trying to remove the old one or install the new one? Does anyone know the desired torque for the bolts holding the switch ...

Re: steering lock

Mine works oddly enough if I turn it far enough my hazards come on! Mine does that too...the manual calls it the "Parking" setting, although other than draining the battery I can't think of a valid use for it :headscratch:. My steering lock works, but not when the bars are cranked all the way over....

Re: I think I broke something...

I'm going to go with a faulty ignition switch as well. They're not too expensive to replace, but you'll have to carry separate keys for the ignition and everything else now. I did it and it wasn't an issue.... Right on, thanks rage. Is an ignition switch something worth buying new, or is it ok to b...

I think I broke something...

So, tonight was the first time I really got a chance to ride my FZR...up until now Ive mostly been riding it around the neighborhood (<30 mi/hr). So...I get to where I'm going when I shut off the bike (and turn the key off), I notice my fan is running and my headlamps are still on :headscratch:. The...

Re: Zero9243's Rebuild Thread

Well boys and girls, I buckled down and bought probably the most expensive mod that I am going to purchase for this rebuild. God is she purty. What could be in here?!!? ...images... So with this kit (and my pods) I should be able to tune on the go without ever having to change jets. Just give the r...

Re: Well that was fun...

An update...so based on the recommendations here it certainly sounds like lowering my bike will make it more comfortable but I think I want to try something else (read: smaller/easier) first. I did a little snooping around the suspension (really trying to locate the dogbones so I know what you guys ...

Re: Well that was fun...

Thanks everyone for the replies...I was doing a bit more research on dog bones...it seems like there are some people out there (including an article on sportrider.com ) that warn against just changing the dogbones...some people here mentioned changing the riding properties...is it really noticeable?...

Re: Well that was fun...

do you have "lowering dogbones" or have you dropped your fork in your triple clamp any to lower the bike ? if not, maybe ThatKid or Haunter could make you a pair of (longer than stock) dogbones for around $35 to lower the bike... would make it a lot more comfortable for you. Thanks for the reply Ya...

Well that was fun...

I dropped my bike in the parking lot taking it out for a ride. @#%!@# :swear :swear :swear Luckily the only thing I broke (I think) was a little piece of windshield...hardly noticeable. I know exactly what I did too...I was coming down a grade (out of a parking garage) and stopped while still on the...

Re: Completed my MSF

Thanks all for the replies...I'm definitely glad I did it. I'm sure its possible to learn all that on my own, but I wouldn't want to try. PIMPMYFZR: it sounds like the experienced course covers about the same material, just on your own bike and in less time...is that right? I was thinking I...

Re: Who has replaced their Voltage Regulator?

If you haven't owned your FZR for a full season yet, please refrain from voting in this poll......bookmark it, your time will come! LOL Oops...I didn't read that before I cast my vote...I've owned the FZR for all of a month. That said, I replaced my VR (or rectifier, whatever :whistle ) the first w...
