Re: 1988 FZR 1000 Build
Thanks koledracer for the picture updates. The rear swingarm looks really good there. Were there any shock mods needed for the swap?

Re: 87 fzr1000 Internal regulator mod....alternatives?
It has been a while but...thank you will and rip for the clarification. I purchased a fj1100 alternator because the numbers cross referenced. There were only 2 mounting points instead of three and it would not fit with stock fj outer cover.. It was slightly longer. Took my alternator to my electroni...

Re: 1988 FZR 1000 Build
Hello there. I am curious why you decided to swap the rear swingarm? Looking forward to your build. I have an 87 1000. looks rough but running. Not sure which direction to take it.

Re: 87 fzr1000 Internal regulator mod....alternatives?
Well. not looking for an argument but, there are some machines that are legendary and have a history too valuable to just throw out. Why not keep them operational and not in a museum? By the way. ... I would have rebuilt my battery but they make a replacement one ... not like the alternator.

I know there are used ones out there but you do not know its history and all will be gone eventually. I was curious if any internal parts cross referenced. we live in a throw away society.

87 fzr1000 Internal regulator mod....alternatives?
Hello gentlemen. I am sure that there is someone out there in the community that has done some research on the alternators used on the fzr1000. I keep coming to a brick wall when i cross reference the internal parts. It looks like the alternator was also used on some cars. Is there some way to swap ...

Re: 87 fzr1000 reading 8 volts from fuel pump relay?
UPDATE: Turns out that the voltage regulator was bad causing excess voltage to the battery. My new battery was fried. NOTE: It seems that the voltage to the coils are extremely critical. Please pay special attention to this. Thank you Dontz125 for all of your help and your wisdom to assist in solvin...

Re: 87 fzr1000 reading 8 volts from fuel pump relay?
oh well. the transisters in the old unit were good? what are the chances of both eproms going bad? I thinj i need to look elsewhere for the problem. I guess it was a coincidence that the bike ran once new TCI was put in. This is a basket case so far.

Re: 87 fzr1000 reading 8 volts from fuel pump relay?
Update. all checks well with the wiring. looks like TCI again. I opened up the original TCI and the ignition resisters checked ok. I think the eprom? is bad. I will open up my current TCI. Hopefully the resisters are bad and i can swap them out. 2 questions... 1)are any other TCI boxes compatible wi...

Re: 87 fzr1000 reading 8 volts from fuel pump relay?
Well... I traced the wires and found nothing noticeable so I uncovered the wire from its wrapper. Still looked good. I kept the battery hooked up to a trickle charger and attached the negative of my volt meter to the battery and started checking voltage on all positive wires. The battery read 12.6 v...
