Re: Sooo, what is a 3BF?
Sorry, I missed this reply. I bought it with a pair of stock size BT45, and that's what is still there. Rear tyre is starting to square off (I've been commuting with the bike, and that's mostly highway kms), so I'll have to start thinking about new tyres - I know, the 18" drama...

Re: Sooo, what is a 3BF?
Thnaks for the info. The clutch does not slip, so I'll get back in there and do a thorough adjustment of the clutch.

Re: Sooo, what is a 3BF?
So, my 3BF has been running well, I've been doing around 100km a day while commuting, and so far so good. But I have been noticing that the clutch engagement point varies with the bike temperature: clutch lever further out when cold, further in when warm. I have never noticed this on previous bikes ...

Re: Sooo, what is a 3BF?
Problem solved. 4 new spark plugs, and she is going strong.

Re: Sooo, what is a 3BF?
Thanks for the reply. I am guessing I have a problem with the spark plug and/or the plug cap, and I hope to have the time to check it tonight - will report back on findings when possible. Meanwhile I realized I sent you some wrong data: I upgraded the voltage regulator, and not the stator; and it wa...

Re: Sooo, what is a 3BF?
After a few months in which I had no time to dedicate to my 3BF, last weekend I changed the oil and oil filter, checked valve clearances (they were great!), new clutch discs, spark plugs were good. It was difficult to get her to start again. I had to adapt some rubbers to the airbox-carb linkage, be...

Re: Sooo, what is a 3BF?
I had thought of boiling the boots in water, but hadn't thought of the coolant fluid part - thanks for the tip! I'll throw in some other rubbers that are starting to crack.

Re: Sooo, what is a 3BF?
I'm getting ready to get into the engine (oil, filter, clutch, check valves, compression), and I know that one of the boots that links the airbox to the carburetor is not sitting properly - it was not properly mounted in its previous life and is now slightly warped, and is a real pain to get it to s...

Re: Sooo, what is a 3BF?
Quick update on this: after having disconnected and cleaned the terminals on the VR (when I took the picture above), it now goes to the other extreme. I'm getting around 18V@ 3000 rpm, which is causing my rear light to blow up - I've changed it twice, won't do it again until the new regulator arrive...

Re: Chasing the rattle
I will check the fan, but I don't think so. I tested it in the workbench when I was revising the cooling system, and it seemed fine. And besides, the rattle is much more metallic, similar to a typical Ducati, although not as loud...

Re: RH rear view mirror and LH side crankcase cover
Yes, but that gives me new parts (at full price). I was trying tho get cheaper, second hand parts that someone has lying around and does not need.
I also need a rear fender (with the license plate light), if anyone has one lying around.
Thanks!

Re: Chasing the rattle
Thanks for the input. I don't have blue smoke when starting up, and the only oil i can see in the engine case is coming from the fill-up screw it self, which does not seem to be sealing properly. But that does not seem enough to justify the amount of oil being used - I'll have to get back to this, b...

Chasing the rattle
So I have been using my 1990 3BF for the past weeks, trying to see how good is her condition and what will she be needing in the near future. First question I have to ask is if this engine is known for using oil. I still have the check more carefully, but I think she is using quite a bit of oil (goi...

RH rear view mirror and LH side crankcase cover
Hi everyone, Looking for these two OEM parts, preferably somewhere around Europe because of the shipping, but willing to do business with the USA: - RH original rear view mirror, in black (part nr 2KR-26290-00-00) - LH side crankcase cover, also OEM (part nr 1WG-15410-00-00) - I know of the aftermar...
