I'm still learning about the bike and a complete amateur in the electrics area, but it's a 12v battery, shouldn't it read 12 volts even when new?

Thanks for the advice ! I had my brother pick up some starter fluid but when I got home he was asleep so I couldnt find it.. went outside and jumped my bike just to try again and it started up no problem (no choke needed anymore either!) without the starter fluid even. I ran it for the past few days...

Yes I meant woudlnt, sorry I'm using my phone. For the starter fluid I just spray it down the throats on top and then try to start it? Or do it when it's trying to turn over ?

So i jumped it an you could tell that the starter was working so I may need a new battery because it sounded like it used to sound when i started it. But it still would start, it would keep trying and i'd get a rumble here and there but nothing. like it might sound with a cold start.

By fuel levels in the cells you mean what?

I checked the battery and it was fine but I heard that if the voltage dips during starting it can mean the battery is bad? Would it be anything with the carbs or probably not? I'll try jump starting it when I get home

Yeah I guess that's what happened, by description. I'm fuming because I'm out 60 dollars, they sent me both the wrong bolts for my carb bowls AND 4 of the wrong jets and they refuse to take a return on the jets because they just don't take returned jets I suppose...?
