Re: FZR600 Paint Codes
Peugeot 'aluminium' worked for me- as used on the Pug 206 cabriolets etc around 2004.
Re: Paint
If it's the same silky white as the early FZRs see my post here: http://www.fzronline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=10661 If you're just doing the seat cowl going to complete edges/lines this way may work. The silky pearl coat needs to go on very very light holding the rattle can way back to just g...

New Old Stock (NOS) Parts
Hi, I hope it's OK to post this here. I've literally just finished a new site- basically a classifieds site just for NOS bike parts. It's UK based but anyone can place ads. The idea is individuals and dealers can list their nos stuff for sale, and more importantly people looking for that elusive NOS...

Re: Sharp rating
Yep that makes interesting reading. I was about to buy a mid range AGV last week but the side impact results weren't great. As you say some very expensive lids didn't come out brilliantly. Some of the cheapos come out very badly though. I ended up buying a Bell m5x which not only gets 5 stars rating...

Re: Handlebar bent?
Hi, It was actually the headstock plate having worn down on the right-hand side so much that it doesn't catch the lock early enough. I'm guessing this is due to decades of the bike being put on the ignition steering lock? Lugs on the bottom yoke are fine. A sticky pad stuck on the plate should bring...

Handlebar bent?
Hi my 1990 FZR600's handlebars look like they both come out at the same kind of angle but someone else just noticed this- when turned to full left lock the left bar almost touches the tank and traps your thumb, but on full right lock there is a bit more clearance to the tank. The tank cover is sitti...

Re: cold drivability issues?
Sounds like your thermostat may be stuck open so the system can't warm up on a short run. You can feel the rad hoses to confirm this.
You can probably get the temp sender from a dealer or online/ ebay etc.

Re: regular paint vs powder coating
'rough it up' then smooth it down with the 400.
As others said it's all about the prep.
When you've done the primer if there are any flaws sort them and re- prime as this WILL be the finish you get with the gloss/ basecoat.

Re: regular paint vs powder coating
I'd use 400 grit too pre-primer, with maybe a bit coarser before on any rough bits to save elbow grease. Then 400-600 pre base coat or gloss coat. Be prepared to flat off the first primer coat or two with wet 600. You can spray a very light coat of contrasting rattle can over the primer pre flat off...

With powder coat you'll have to pay someone with a big enough oven to take the frame to do the job.
