Re: Newbie needs help
Haha think I'm going to agree, close enough for now, starts o.k, runs ok, revs o.k, still smoking, but that just maybe because it bloody freezing at the moment, keeping a eye on the coolant level, so I'm going to concentrate on finishing her now and get her on the road, will get pictures up soon.

Re: Newbie needs help
Hi everyone, I think I'm getting somewhere, today I gave the engine a flush and replaced the oil, and whilst the oil was dropping I checked over the carbs and found that the seals on the 2 of the needle jet assembly's were shot, I replaced and put new oil in and she goes a lot better, but whilst at ...

Re: Newbie needs help

Re: Newbie needs help
Yes the bike did run on the old plugs before the gasket replacement, It's a very interesting point you made about the plugs, but must be correct, as the bike came to life again. All I have to do is set her up now as its not running as smooth as before, the engine sounds sweet, but when it's started ...

Re: Newbie needs help
All back together, timing marks are pretty spot on, valve clearances done, I have spark, but the bloody thing will not fire up, when turning it over, try without choke and nothing put the choke on and there is slight puffing whilst its turning over, but not enough to fire it up, there must be fuel g...

Re: Newbie needs help
Hi all, Well it's been a while, and I have had ups and downs, last week I finished the bike apart from the valve clearances, she looked great and sounded nice, started up on the button first time, here where it all goes pear shaped, noticed exhaust was smoking a bit, thought it would clear up once w...

Fork specs
Hi
Anyone out there know how much oil each fork leg takes on a fzr400 rr 3tj, and also the required air gap, can only find info for the sp version, and have been told that they are different.
Cheers

Re: Newbie needs help
It's all gone wrong again, went out yesterday to fire her up and nothing, kept trying but no luck. Eventually the battery was to low to continue, so of with the tank, and the carbs. The carbs looked all clean nothing nasty at all, so took the plugs out expecting them to be wet, as if they were flood...

Re: Newbie needs help
Hi guys, been away for a few days, but where I'm up to at the moment, is that I have carbs off, giving them a good clean, waiting for new plugs, oil, filters etc to arrive, I have discovered the cooling system has a slight leak from the metal pipe connected to the rear of the cylinders, bought new s...
