Re: FZR 660 woes
So, maybe I jumped the gun a bit with the piston stretching thought. After further inspection, and looking at some photos of other pistons online, it seems as though the difficulty of removing the piston pin was due to a burr being created on the wrist pin clip grooves, not the hole stretching out. ...

FZR 660 woes
So I built an FZR660 motor that's in a 400 frame a few years back and haven't gotten to ride it much. After sorting some basic issues at the time, I realized there was an oil leak from god knows where. I was thinking that it was related to the job I did to seal the two halves of the case, but I also...

Re: Bike died on me during a ride, problems appear HELP PLEA
Voltage regulator/rectifier...? I had a similar problem on my 96 600. Couldn't start it, replace the VR and it fired right up. I think there are a few ways to check it's condition. I could be wrong, but I would def check that.

Re: Carb Tuning
I would check the spark. I have no idea why spark plug boots just screw into the wires. I feel like there is a probably a better way to make a connection. After reassembling my bike, I was moving the wires around to plug them back into the plugs and one of the boots pretty much fell off the wire. Af...

Re: 660 Build...Cam Timing Question
Discovered the difference between the FZR and the YZF cams. They are essentially the same, however the alingment holes on the cams are different spacing. This is why the YZF cam cap has the alignment mark offcenter. Not a big deal, just dont align the YZF cam in an FZR head using the FZR alignment m...

Re: 660 Build...Cam Timing Question
Thats what I was thinking too, but I have literally gone through these carbs with a toothbrush multiple times. I replaced the float valves with ones from donor FZR600 carbs, which seem to be the same dimensions (actually about 1/5 mm longer). You are talking about the float valves, not the vacuum co...

Re: 660 Build...Cam Timing Question
Well I rotated the engine with the current cam timing setup, and there doesnt seem to be any interference. I tried starting the bike, but cannot get it to fire. I am wondering if it has to do with the intake cam opening too early or if it is carb related. I am having trouble with the YZF carbs. They...

Re: 660 Build...Cam Timing Question
They are the cams that came with the YZF head. I have also read that they are interchangeable, so was unsure. The motor is already in and ready to rock so I may just hit the red button and pray. I'll report back with results. Thanks for the reply.
