Re: FZR 400/R6 ENGINE SWAP?
If you took carbs from a 600 they should have jetting to be in the ballpark for your motor. After that you need an airbox, you could use the 400 one it should fit onto the 600 carbs. 400 and 600 airboxes are similar but the snorkel on the 600 is bigger so you might need to buy a 600 airbox anyway. Re: FZR400 YZF750 conversion
I saw it done to a 2TK here in the UK. I think the YZF engine is a bit too long, wide, and tall. You'd need new mounts, then the radiator would be a bit big and the pipes will probably foul the front wheel under braking, the rear tyre would be a bit small so new rear end ... and then you might as we...

Re: Engine rebuild
A 3en1 is a 1wg.
1wg is the model type from Genesis up to 3en2. If a part is common to more than one bike it will probably be labelled from the earliest model so this would be 1wg ... then 2tk then 3en etc. Its like 3en1 downpipes are labelled 2tk.

Re: Engine rebuild
10/40 w semi synthetic. If the rings were gone you'd get blue smoke from it, it would be after you throttle off while moving.
Fit the right oil.

Re: Engine rebuild
But you don't know it's the rings. Take a compression test dry and then add the oil, if the compression goes up then it's more likely the rings. If it doesn't then it's more likely the valves aren't fully sealing. Over time the vales stretch and the flat area "tulips" up into the hole. You only need...

Re: Engine rebuild
Why do you think it needs pistons ? Did you do a "wet" compression test with some oil down the bores.
Does it smoke a lot,use a lot of oil and are the plugs covered in oil ? Even if the ring are worn all you do is measure them and replace .... hone the bores but no need for pistons.

Re: FactoryPro ShiftKit?
That sounds like the reg rec died. The regulator part of the reg rec controls the amount of charge going to the battery ... when that goes the alternator will put charge straight through and it can spike quite high. The wires create a resistance and the joints in the wires a further resistance .... ...

Yes and Yes ... I agree with the mechanic. If this went into an airbox it would go though the carbs / engine / pipe and away

Re: White Smoke/Vapour From Crankcase Breather
It could just be oil mist, y'know just one of those things.
You've checked under the oil filler for water scum ?
You've checked the radiator filler for oil scum ?
The bike hasn't seized since you rebuilt it ....
Old bike innit, if it runs ok then happy days

Re: fuel petcock replacement
Have a look on CSMNL - find each bike and note down the part numbers to see if they match. You could google or ebay search the part numbers to see what the fuel tap costs, it might be worth simply replacing the whole lot. Check if the leak comes from the top where the tap joins the tank - that's a r...

I can see the marks, but they could be polished out. As this is mainly a usa site it's unlikely they'll move through here.

Offset. On the ordering page click the part number and you go to the part number information page .... the link is for the 3EN with a gold centre or carrier, over on the right is a box with Information on it and "Measure an Offset" link - have a look and measure the offset. http://www.metalgear.com....

Re: 1990 3BF Brake Rotor question
For a 3en2 (fake air intakes below the 2 round headlights and 41mm dia forks) you need the Yamaha 298mm dia discs they were standard on a lot of bikes, FZR 400 3TJ, the later 600 and 600R Foxeye, and probably your best bet is early shaped Fazer 600 (although those have black carriers) 3en1 has air i...

Re: FactoryPro ShiftKit?
Try adjusting the gear change pedal before you go ripping into the engine. Loosen the locknuts from the 2 rose joints then rotate the gear change rod, rotate it one way and pedal goes up the other and it goes down ... you want it down a touch so your foot can operate it more positively. If you run o...
