First engine bogging, now no electrical... ICU?

I bought a 95' YZF600R about a month ago. It had some running issues, but I was sure it was just carb clogs. It idle great, ran good at low rpm, shoot it even would start w/o choke first try! After digging into it, I found it didnt have a fuel pump. I added an external universal fuel pump and the pr...

Re: My FZR may not be an FZR/ (pics)

Yeah, I found my problem. I have a 95-ish YZF600 with a 93 FZR600 VIN banghead ... tho it looks like the VIN change was a loong time ago, so the past owner didnt know either. So looks like I'll be having this bike much longer than I expected. Either way, I have what I have and I need to get a fuel p...

Re: My FZR may not be an FZR/ (pics)

Ok, looking at the fiche, it appears the frame is indeed a YZF frame, stamped to be a FZR... As far as I can tell I have a YZF, not a FZR as the title says... well crap

Re: My FZR may not be an FZR/ (pics)

Well I'm starting to think this bike is a YZF that someone stamped to be a FZR. Another tell is when I bought a new battery for the FZR600, they gave me a battery that was too tall (and possible reverse polarity, but cant confirm). So I had to take it back to get a shorter one. hmmm

Re: My FZR may not be an FZR/ (pics)

The only number I see around that parts is "4NC-000382" Which do not much my frame. Also, could you explain the frame mounting thing a bit better for me? Im not sure what Im looking for. This is really weird. Oh and if another picture of something would help, let me know, I can snap a few quick pict...

Re: My FZR may not be an FZR/ (pics)

Yup, just looked at the 95 YZF600, and boom! tank is the same! electrical looks close. and YZF has a 'in tank' fuel pump, which my bike is lacking. And there is my problem. I'll keep looking to see what bike goes to what, but thankyou sooo much for the help. This clear up ALOT of confusion! -David

Re: My FZR may not be an FZR/ (pics)

fzrbrandon, the stampings match the sticker, digit for digit. So the sticker is correct for the frame. But I agree, something is shady here, and it would be nice to figure it out. Cuz once I figure this out, i'll need to figure out the next steps for the fuel pump.

Re: My FZR may not be an FZR/ (pics)

Also, my biggest concern right now, is that I can not locate a fuel pump. Im unsure is it's needed, or what. The bike starts great, but under high throttle, it sputters and can barely pull (sounding like fuel delivery issue). All lines are clear, and carbs look ok. So thats where all this confusion ...

Re: My FZR may not be an FZR/ (pics)

The rear tire it a 170/60-R17... Not sure if this is the engine number, but down on the right side (clutch cover) on the block itself there is these number "4NC-000382". I do see the tank does not match the frame very well. There are locations where the tank lines move up to make room for the frame,...

Let me check really quick... Oh and it wasnt the hosting site that cropped the pictures, it's the forum. If you can see all of the picture, right click on the image and click "view picture".

My FZR may not be an FZR/ (pics)

My FZR may not be an FZR? I bought a 93' FZR600R that (i was told) has a 94 motor in it. Thats all I know. I've been having sputtering problems at >25% throttle and so I've been trying to chase it down ie. there is no fuel pump, but online says there is. online says the tank is a 2 piece tank, I hav...

Re: Bike rolls freely while in gear

I +1 on Pnbell's suggestion. I would modify it slight, and say once you loosen the lock nut, back the adjuster screw back as far as you can with out it falling out. The WITH OUT STARTING THE BIKE, click it into gear and see if it still rolls in gear. If yes, you got other problems, if no, then you f...

Gas light on, but not when 'res'

93' FZR600 Just bought the bike, so all is new to me. Found that when I have the 'ON/RES' switch (toggle switch on the left fairing) in the on position, I get the gas light. It turns off when I switch it to reserve, even with full tank. It confuses me bc, I thought the light was independent from the...

Re: Bike rolls freely while in gear

This is just a 'off the top of my head guess', but sounds like something is jamed within the clutch, keep the clutch 'pressed in' all the time. I have the same bike, and I know mine has a helix throw out 'screw' that when you pull in the clutch, it rotates a course screw of sorts, and as it threads ...
