Looks like a lot of hours went into the restoration. Nice work.
Even your dog in the one picture looks impressed.

Re: Rainey's Yamaha hull for Fzr 1000

is the Yzr's hull adaptable to Fzr 1000? If you're looking at the 1991 Yamaha YZR500 Grand Prix racebike as an example ... the answer is no. The mounting points and dimensions will be different between the YZR500 and a FZR1000. The fairings on the 1994 FZR1000 are similar to the design/appearance o...

Re: Exhaust Header

Best approach will be to purchase a copy of the Yamaha Service Manual or a copy of the Haynes Service & Repair Manual. They will be your best source of information.

Nice result against the competition (memo to self - practice launches so as to not jump the start)

Re: possible vance and hines edition

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about the collision ... I hope you and your wife are OK. I don't know how to verify the authenticity of the bike. I'm not sure who built the original Vance & Hines. I suppose you could contact V & H on their website and ask them if they have any suggestions. http:...

This is going to be a pretty wild 1040.
I'm looking forward to following the progress and seeing the final results.

Re: Coil voltage

The original battery spec for the bike is 12V 14AH> The charging voltage, as measured across the battery @ 3K RPM, should be between 14.3V and 15.3V All the other electrical spec, repair, maintenance information refers to continuity or resistance measurements and don't list the voltages.

Re: Charging system

So would you agree that the r/r is bad?
Typically the voltage regulator/rectifier will go bad more often than the stator. Some bikes seem to be worse than others (e.g. 90's vintage Hondas). The voltage R/R is also cheaper and easier to replace.

Re: Charging system

Which FZR and engine are you referring to? The FZR1000 charging voltage should be between 14.3V and 15.3V at 3K RPMs. Check your voltage at 3K RPMs and if it's still over 15.3V (e.g. 18V) it's probably the voltage/rectifier. But here's the measurements if you want to check your stator: The stator co...
