Re: what goes here in the fairing
hi all, i got a 600 genesis (1990). on the right-hand side there is a little u-shaped metal bit which is attached to the frame from one end and the other end attaches to the fairing. Kind of like this: _ _ | | | * | | | | -------- * = hole where the bolt holding the fairing goes. Frame on the left. ...

Re: FZR600 Genesis - Engine/Gear Box Rattle
Ah, this one... So, today I paid close attention to where the rattling sound was coming from and when. I dismantled the fairing panel (the plastics on both sides?) in order to hear better. There was still the troubling sound, rattle at 4,000 RPM, with and without putting the bike in gear. I also sta...

Re: FZR600 Genesis - Engine/Gear Box Rattle
The story continues... So, I got hold of Clymer service/repair manual. According to it, slapping or rattling noises at low speed or during acceleration could be due to piston slap, or excessive piston-cylinder wall clearance. I haven't verified this by measuring the clearance but if this is the case...

Re: FZR600 Genesis - Engine/Gear Box Rattle
Fair enough!
I was really wanting to hear if anyone else had had a similar problem in the past.
The real question at this point for me is whether my baby's going to make it across Europe to a nice garage...

FZR600 Genesis - Engine/Gear Box Rattle
Hi all, I wanted to ask your opinion on the following: Couple of weeks ago my FZR600 Genesis (1990, 56,000km) started to make a rattle sound. I've managed to figure out the conditions when this happens. Basically, when the RPM is between 3,000 and 5,000 I hear a rattling sound. It is independent of ...

Re: FZR600 Genesis - "Chokes" on low RPM
It certainly was insanely humid for a long time, and to be honest, I'm thinking that the throw-over cover that I had on the bike wasn't helping either. It meant that whatever humidity/water was under it, stayed there because there was no air circulation. But I guess that was better than having the b...

Re: FZR600 Genesis - "Chokes" on low RPM
Alright, today I had the chance to take my baby for a ride. I drove first about 15 miles keeping it under 45 mph. The bike was acting out as before. Acceleration was poor and engine was "stalling/choking" on low rpm, especially when taking off from stopped position. Although on neutral there was no ...

FZR600 Genesis - "Chokes" on low RPM
hi all, i'm a total newbie in mechanics or such stuff but i need your opinion on the following: my FZR600 Genesis (-90) has been out in the rain for a few weeks. although it's not completely under the sky (there're 2 covers but it's been pouring for the past weeks), it unfortunately doesn't have a p...
