Re: identify my 400 for fairings

At the very least, I expected fitment. I bought the set just for the upper. If only the upper was good I would have been happy but it was all warped and it took me a few hours of grinding, refitting and more grinding just to get that on. And even then the OEM Yamaha windscreen did not sit right and ...

I had to put a rubber grommet to fill the hole just to put a bolt through. I also had to grind away at the tail light slot for quite a bit just to get it to sit...

Re: identify my 400 for fairings

I bought it from partsforbike, but it's the same product from other sellers as well.

Re: identify my 400 for fairings

I bought those fairings and the fitment is terrible. Some of the fairings came damaged and they said they would replace them but they didn't. They just kept stalling until it was too late for me to give them bad feedback. The tail and fender are very brittle fiberglass. The tail has only 2 mounting ...

Re: Decals for 1988 FZR400

DO NOT GET THESE CHINESE PIECES OF CRAP!!! It's a complete waste of money. You are much better off hunting individual fairings piece by piece than throwing away $500 on this. The fitment is terrible, the quality is terrible, the tail and fender are cheap fiberglass. The upper doesn't fit properly wi...

Re: Wind Screen ?

My avatar is my FZR400. I got this solved back in early spring. Thanks for the input though. I ended up buying a zero gravity and it worked out good.

The 400 will not bolt up. I replaced the flywheel and it's all good now.

Re: My POS is still giving me a hard time

Did you try testing or replacing replacing the fan thermo switch? You can test it by checking for continuity. When it's above a certain temp(probably 180-200 degrees) you should get continuity through it.

Re: Air filter question

Paper filters the best. The performance gain with a k&n is only there because you replace a dirty stock one with a clean new k&n. The only way to get more performance with an air filter upgrade is if it's undersized for the application. If you moderately improve the flow characteristics of an engine...

Re: 86 FZ600S high idle issue

Check the carb boots for cracks or missing vacuum caps. Carbs might be out of sync. Good luck.

Re: FZR 400/600 vibration problem

I just checked the flywheel with a dial gauge and it's bad. It has .040" run-out compared to my 400 motor which only has .002". I will be borrowing an impact wrench this weekend and try swapping them. I still need to know if it will bolt up because if it won't, I can order a replacement sooner.

FZR 400/600 vibration problem

I just got my 400/600 running. I cleaned and synced the carbs. I get an unusual amount of vibration that goes up as the rpm gets higher. When I got the motor, the generator cover was cracked open from a crash an i'm thinking that maybe the generator wheel it's slightly bent. I don't remember seeing ...

Re: It's Time for the Dreadful Tire Choice

The front is a 130 as standard but most owners opt for the 120...myself included. The 120 fits great and also helps the bike tip into corners easier which is one of its issues being an older heavier bike than the current line ups. 10mm less in width doesn't make the tyre stretch to fit the rim at a...

It's Time for the Dreadful Tire Choice

I have a 90 EXUP and my tires are on their last legs. I'm currently running Michelin Power Race PR3 120/70/17 and 180/55/17 that were on from the PO. Right now i'm leaning toward the Shinko 006 Podium not because of price but because they are the only ones that make the 130/60/17 front. I'm going wi...

Re: Are FZR400 and FZR600 Airboxes the same

Let me know if it works. The important thing is to have the right length velocity stacks that match the carbs you are using otherwise the carbs go out of tune and the motor runs like crap. I don't know if the YZF and FZR600 boxes have the same lenght stacks, but when I ran my pod filters on my 400 m...
