Re: Motor started ticking
No manual for me. I looked at an exploded diagram on some european site and the part I'm looking for "according to them" is a plane bearing. Personally I don't know what or where all the bearings are or what anything in the motor is actually called. I'm a newb to motors. But I've seen people talk ab...

Re: Motor started ticking
Well I finally got around to it. I first took the valve cover off, but couldn't find my feeler gauges. fast forward about 8 weeks and I finally found them. Went to start taking measurements and the motor wouldn't turn over anymore. Its been in my kitchen the whole time but whatever. So I decided to ...

Re: checklist for a bike thats been sitting years...
Everything mentioned are good ideas. First and foremost after receiving a free bike that had been sitting outside for years I'd make sure the motor turns over freely before spending money on parts to refurbish everything. Would just suck to spend the time and money with carbs and fluids then realizi...

Re: Low fuel light
I know I can swap tanks to achieve what I want but what I'm asking hasn't been answered. The tank swaps require getting another tank. I already have an extra oil level sensor. Just trying to figure out how the oil level sensor works and if it can be used in the fuel tank to alert me around the time ...

Re: Low fuel light
For the fzr600 3HE? I'm don't think there is anything like that on the 6. None of mine have ever had anything electrical going to the petcock.

Re: shift light and gear indicator light
Those displays are the same as in clocks, right? Could I just take apart an old digital clock and try to rig it up the way I want? I'm sure its one long board instead of multiple small ones but couldn't they be separated and already have most the stuff I need, just wire it up right? Just trying to f...

Re: shift light and gear indicator light
The fzr only has one wire going to the sensor, the contact point for neutral. There is no wire feeding ground path to the part that rotates.

Low fuel light
Well, bored at work and this gear position sensor discussion has had me thinking about something else I was thinking could be plausible. A low fuel light. A few times on my way home I start to run out of gas but have enough to make it home and back to a gas station. So after work if this happens on ...

Re: shift light and gear indicator light
Ok, now I'm really confused. Haha. I see that the suzuki has a center contact. behind the fzr sensor there is no middle point. Theres a screw in the center of the piece that has the ball that moves around the outside but our sensor only has the one (neutral) point. I was literally just trying to fig...

Re: shift light and gear indicator light
I'm just not a very electrical oriented person. That kind of stuff usually leaves me stumped. I looked at that link you provided to figure out what the display unit would be called to search ebay to see price ranges for them. Maybe radioshack or similar sells a seven segment display like that I can ...

Re: shift light and gear indicator light
Now for the part I'm really interested in. where can I buy one of those display units that reads 1-6. Not sure I have the know how to hook it up, its just alot better looking in my opinion. I'd love to know how to get a hold of the display unit so I can try and figure it out and do some research on ...

Re: shift light and gear indicator light
I appreciate the input don. I just looked at it and it will work. I cannot upload pics here, only on the archives. But its the same principals as what you, darrin, have for the suzuki but just a cheap homemade version. I'm sure you could mass produce them as theres plenty of fzrs still out there, ju...

Re: shift light and gear indicator light
Like I tried to explain. I, myself, have never seen behind it either or taken it off. Just saw a post asking if a link would work with the fzr and the link was a DIY GPS for the yzf 600 motor. I looked at the DIY and saw pictures then went out to a dead motor to examine and the neutral switch looked...

Re: shift light and gear indicator light
I'm not sure where I saw it at (here or the archives) but there was a post of someone wanting to make one after seeing a write up of someone making one for the yzf 600. I have no indication that this will work or not as I never saw an answer to if it could be done on the fzr. But the yzf and fzr mot...

Motor started ticking
Hey there guys, Well I'm in need of some direction. I know the valve cover gasket leaked slightly and I've been running without gauges since my wreck almost a year ago, so I had been changing my oil every other month or so. I was almost due for an oil change but was busy with work so kept on riding ...
