Opinion on valve stem seals
I'm going to put my 97 fzr up for sale, but before I do I'm going to replace the valve stem seals. I'm thinking about these http://www.ebay.com/itm/R-amp-D-SHO-FZR-High-Performance-Valve-Stem-Seal-Kit-/151191462499?pt=Personal_Watercraft_Parts&hash=item2333b6a263&vxp=mtr. I know OEM's would be bette...

Valve Stem Seals
Anyone know if fel-pro makes valve stem seals and head gaskets for our bikes? I used Athena brand VSS last season but they didn't last and I'm not really trying to pay more for OEM since I'll be selling my bike after this season.

oversized/fat grips
Anyone here running fat/oversized grips on their bike? I put new ones 2 years ago when I got the bike, but they're not oversized. They're gel padded and they're physically in good shape and not worn down. I do have long fingers and big hands( I can palm a normal size basketball in each hand) and I a...

Re: No tires to light the fires
I been running the shinko 006 podiums for 2 seasons now and just shy of 10000 miles and haven't had any trouble at all out of them. I'm not a conservative rider, but yet not super aggressive either. They've handled everything I've thrown at them. Even temperature changes aren't a problem, ridden in ...

Re: Need some direction...
You will need to borrow/rent or buy a 3-leg puller to get the gear assy. apart. I think there is an online manual that shows exactly what to do (in the wiki maybe). I can scan the page from my repair manual that shows what to do if needed.

Re: Need some direction...
Well at least you can rule out the motor now. My guess as far as how it happened is, when you were able to push start it, the gears may have been stuck out and when it fired up it trashed 'em. Hope you can find a member here with some or a good set on Ebay cause those gears are expensive new on both...

Re: Need some direction...
As far as testing the motor out, put in neutral, pull the plugs and stator cover off, and use the bolt on the end of the crank to turn it. If it doesn't budge, it may be seized or bent valves, it should rotate fairly easily so don't force anything.. Also check the starter gears behind the peanut cov...

Re: FZR600 Newb needs help with a starting problem...
You should check out your emulsion tubes in the carbs. If they are egg-shaped, it'll cause your bike to bog and eventually stall from being flooded. I found that out last year when I bought my '97. It ran fine on the test drive but on the way home it bogged and sputtered and stalled.

Re: Jerky low speeds *FIX = Cush Drive Bushings*
Thanks for the tip, I'll have to try that. I've had same issue for a month now and been at a loss trying to figure it out. I did notice when i put new sprockets and chain on that I had some play in the cush bushings.

its an fzr head, just got wonky on the math (4th straight 15 hour work day and too tired to sleep). 15 valves and buckets are good, the head and cams are toasted.

Have you figuered your valve problem yet? I had one that was bent, but bike still ran ok ended up replacing the whole head and got everything fixed. I do have the old head still that has 15 good intake and 16 good exhaust valves if ya need some spare parts.
