Re: my fzr600 little project planned
If you want a digital speedo and a gear indicator that will work on the FZR go for a Acewell 3252, the gear indicator you will have to initially set as it computes engine revs/speed. Just a matter of entering the menu and pressing a button on the unit in each gear as you ride once to set it up. You ...

Re: Running on 3 cylinders (Random cylinder at fault)
Had a similar problem to this on my 600. Would only happen when cold, checked out the coils & plugs, replaced HT leads and caps, cleaned out the carbs and reset the float heights, did a compression test and still it was missing when cold. Once warm would run on all four and pull like a train. Finall...

Re: Not running on all cylinders
Had a similar problem on mine, turned out to be the valve stem oil seals. Ran rough when first started as oil was dripping ever so slowly when stood down the inlets of cylinders 2 & 3. Riding about a mile or so the plugs would clean themselves and it would run fine. As the cams & stems are in an oil...
Re: new tires
You can run a 150 on the back of an FZR no problem, I've a set of Avon Storm 2 Ultra on mine that work really well. Avon recommend front 110/70ZR17 rear 150/70ZR18. Not as sticky as some but good all round performance in wet and dry, done around 7000 miles on mine to date and about half worn. Only t...

Re: emulsion tubes?
I have been able to obtain a brand new genuine Yamaha emulsion tube part No. 3EN-14141-90. Measuring the length internal against external it is only the top 5mm that has the restriction for the needle to effect the fuel flow. I would therefore only have to sleeve the top 5mm of the tube to return it...

Re: emulsion tubes?
Your lucky in the States as the FZR ran for a lot longer than here in the UK. Prices for spares are also a lot cheaper but kills any price advantage when they come through customs at this end, 20% tax and a handling charge. Emulsion tubes from European supplier are 38.50 Euro's (£30 or $49.00) apiec...

emulsion tubes?
Just a quick question. Does anybody know what the diameter of the emulsion tubes are at the point of where the needle goes in? The reason for asking is that my bike is suffering from the usual problem of running rich at tick over. Rather than having to pay for a Factory Pro nickel plated set I was l...

Re: Carb Intake Boot Temp Repair
Try using Self Bonding Silicone tape or Self Amalgamating tape, its the stuff they use for wrapping wiring harness with. It has no adhesive on it like the other tapes you mentioned but bonds to its self over 24 hours to form a water and air tight seal. You just stretch it when you apply it to twice ...

Re: Fresh Gauge Faces
I'm sorry but it seems to not like files that aren't photos! Have converted them to JPEGS so should now upload. Remember these are done in European A4 size which is a slightly different size to US Letter. The outside diameter of the gauges should be 79mm. Print a draft copy before going for the fini...

Re: Fresh Gauge Faces
I had thought of trying to remove the original printed faces but that would have stopped me from returning the clocks back to normal if I ever wanted to do that. What I have done is produce some blackout discs to fit on the reverse side on the same vinyl as the clock faces. Just big black circles re...

Re: Fresh Gauge Faces
I’ve done my own gauge conversion very similar to SquadraCorse, worked out about £10 ($16) for the lot. Took the gauges off and scanned them in to Coral Draw (used Corel Draw as I’m used to it) on the computer. My FZR is a USA import and came with USA clocks, in the UK most of our speed limits end i...

Re: R6 shock conversion questions
I wanted to give it a couple of riding weeks before reporting back after completing the conversion which was pain free and went without a hitch. Many thanks to the pioneers that have documented their own conversions here; it made it so much easier. First off I took the rake angle before and after. I...

Re: Idle adjustment question
Have you checked your throttle cable free play? May be that when you put the carbs back on you have not left enough free play on the open and close cables to allow it to close to the throttle stop. Free play if I remember right is about 3mm.
