Hi - anybody know what the pain codes are on an 1989 1000. Need colour codes for the red (as on the gas tank) and the white (front fender). any halp you can give would be appreciated.

the starter clutch can be removed / inspected with the engine in the frame. Its under the forwardmost of the two right hand covers (nearest to the rad). The manual explains the procedure that is relatively simple. you have PM

was gunna say - it hard to see from your pictures but the throttle cables dont look right - there is a metal sleeved end on the end of the pull cable (the one on top). this slots into the metal piece on the carb return mechanism (the 2 nuts go on the end to lock the cable in place) - I have got mine...

Hi - I had similar problems with bound on clutch plates - this resulted from the bike being stored for 5 years. I warmed some oil in a pan and poured it through the oil filler using a turkey baster (over the clutch plates) - having left it over night I put the bike in gear and rocked it back and fou...

result - soaked the clutch plates that were stuck together - all working weel .The problem with the gearchange was the selector lever - the spigot marks were not lined up - rotated it through 90 degrees and hey presto !! niceeeee. the kinda fix me likes

sussed it - it's in the generator apaprently (not external). Managed to confirm this with the dealer. It appears to differ depending on what wire diagram you look at !

thanks for that - the plot thickens - there is definately no VR, mounting plate or wires in this areas in the 1K. the only place it could possibly go is on the left side toward the battery box (on the subframe above the rider peg). Oh man - If the box is spannerd I might just be inclined to drop another engine in. I would be comfortable enough with that but I dont fancy stripping the motor - I will let you know how it goes. cheers
