Valve Woes

(Back story, skip if you don't care) So I managed to grab another fzr 600, for 300 bucks. Kid said it wouldn't run and the "shop" he took it to (provided the work slip) said the issue was unresolved. Not sure why & I don't care, the issues was ridiculously obvious. It had been dropped on the left si...

Re: What clocks will fit (400 frame / 600)

any year thundercat(U.S. 98-07 yzf600) U.K. had a yzf600, but it was the "foxeye" fzr (read wiki) !!! NOT U.S. yzf600/R6!!! it does has an extra dummy light for fuel... other than that all the wires goto the same spots and the speedo cable will screw in. if you cant find one i have a bunch of 90's y...

Re: What clocks will fit (400 frame / 600)

know the cat(yzf600) will swap with fzr600 the thunderace(yzf1000) has the same exact rpm gauge circuit (inside) as the cat and it its about the same size, but i have not tried to fit between the two... never had my hands on fzr1000/750 gauges but i think it would be safe to assume its not much diff...

Re: r1 carbs on 1994 fzr1000 exup

my target is 160/165 hp on rear wheel Buy a different bike. An R1 of GSXR1000 will be a better platform to achieve a rear wheel HP number like that. It can be done to a FZR1000, but you are looking to spend a ton of money on the engine to make it reliable at that HP range (I.E. - more money than bu...

Re: fzr600 intake valves??

this is gona sound dumb but... curiosity is eating me alive!!! Why would the intake valves be damaged? i mean beyond the obvious, of course... also 2 points for thought; with severely damaged valves its also safe to assume that the guides are damaged (ask me how i know!!!). number 2) properly tuned ...

Re: Fuel pump testing/rebuild

yes the yzf 600/thundercat will work. not sure about the r6. the yzf will fit right in the mount too. i think the yzf is a lil big... but it will work.

good luck

cross roads, need second opinon(s)

over the years i have accumulated a bunch of mods for my fzr600. looks like this winter i finally have the time to get it together again. the big Q: is the fzr a good intro bike the track? or should i plan on parting it out to pay for a more updated track bike. Extras: fzr frame 02 thundercat motor ...

Re: Thunderace 1000 help

ThunderAce's are a bastardaztion of the yzf750 & fzr1000. Seems like early model cylinder blocks suffered from heat distortion until yamaha made better sleeves. This causes the increase in oil consumption that they (fzr & yzf) are known for. So its not excessive wear that causes it, its just normal....

wheres the thunderace forums?

After looking for a long time finally found the elusive thunderace for sale. To top that the guy brought it state-side AND it comes with a box of goodies! Since my truck was just stolen it made perfect timing. I'm not really sure how to post pics here ... (maybe George will pipe in here) ... I do ha...

Re: thundercat forks?

yup you need yzf wheel, calipers, rotors, brake lines, upper/lower triple, clip ons, ignition... thats all i can think of right off the top of my head. NOTES: i dont think fzr rotors fit the brake lines may be interchangeable the ignition switch is a pain to remove so i dont know if they swap, but t...

every time i tried to lower my fzr the rear tire bottoms out... i'm only 130-ish 140 on a wet day... maybe my shock needs to be rebuilt? but thats my experience with lowering.

Re: Automatic Chain Lubrication

i got a scottoiler form the uk about two years ago. they are messy but it seemed to help on long long trips (1000+ miles) i dont think i would like lube constantly get thrown on the tire at the track though. i never really kept track of mileage but it seemed to extend the life of the sprockets a bit...
