Re: emulsion tubes?
George is 100% correct. Having worked on carbs most of my life there is no such thing as drilling an emulsion tube or mainjet in my book. It takes reamers. Simple as that. These can be had though and if you get a hold of a correct one without breaking the bank it might still be an idea to make this ...

Re: Fuel Injection kits for the FZR400, FZR600, YZF600
On O2s. Yeah. That goes for a WB as well. The advent of WBs on a wide front has been a marvel from many respects.(I was around when the old Bosch 11s were the ones to get-which basicaly was an economical ruin). Again though it comes down to pure common sense. To map an engine i dont CARE how many se...

Re: Fuel Injection kits for the FZR400, FZR600, YZF600
:grinnod: Yeah. IMO there are many many fallacys when it comes to EFI. Some of the more common ones are "start maps" and "maps for passing X"(as in smog checks asf). I´ve been doing this for a rather long time and to this day i have no idea what that is. I don´t get it and what´s more i don´t get pe...

Re: Fuel Injection kits for the FZR400, FZR600, YZF600
I hear ya. I kind of saw myself as the one that pi**ed on the party, which wasn´t my intention in any way. It´s just that getting it right can be MUCH harder than all these "internet keyboard jockeys" claim that are all over. MUCH. Lots is to be found knowledge wise over the net though so my advice i...

Re: Fuel Injection kits for the FZR400, FZR600, YZF600
Believe what you will. I´ve been around the various autotune systems since the beginning of dawn and if you wish for an engine that is as civilized as a production one from later yrs they simply dont cut it. The transitions especialy can be very hard to sort out-then again i guess it to a degree com...

Re: Fuel Injection kits for the FZR400, FZR600, YZF600
FWIW i do that crap for a living and what i can tell you right off the bat is that it is ALWAYS more money and trouble involved than meets the eye. No exceptions. Worth it still? Yeah well, don´t expect any appreciable performance increase. When done mapping you can suspect the bike to start more eas...

Re: Engine work
Thanx a million for the link. Nah,that seems more reasonable right off the bat. Point is that as i had the powerplant apart summer passed the pins showed evidence of wear. Conrod bolts in my book are routine replacement parts,it´s just that i didn´t have any around at the time. (Reason i ripped it a...

Thanx.
None the less, there´s no separate vendor apart from my local yamaha dealer?
Nothing aftermarket as far as this goes at all?
Kind of odd isn´t it seing what yamaha charges.

Engine work
Have to ask. Past summer i had an engine failure. Got p-off and ripped the powerplant apart to replace the crank and rods as i had thrown a conrod bearing. All in two days time-basicaly to get on the road asap again. As i hot tanked everything in sight of course general wear n tear showed, but i put ...

Re: FZR Hybrid power down after a good run
As far as aerodynamics just be aware that it is more important to get the air out than in.
Always overengineer that part if you aint into the loop on aerodynamics.
Think static highpressure area vs lower pressure dynamic area.
Air is always sucked out.
Not pushed in.

Re: Runs only with the enriching lever. WHAT THE HECK!!!
Agreed. Dynamic sync is the ONLY way to go. FWIW tho check that your valveclearances at least aint completely out of whack. Then,on warm engine, there´s absolutely nothing that states that the idle mixture screws need to be turned 3 turns out. It´s been my experience from time to another that albeit ...

Re: Clutch 1990
First of all check things... First up being the clutch cable. Detach at clutch end and work the wire back n forth to check smooth operation. It is common that the wires rust rendering a very harsh function. If that checks out just put your bike on the sidestand and unbolt the large cover for the clu...
Re: Camshafts
Imperative part IMO would really be the stock LCA,which from the Yec cams table would be 100+100,5/2=100,25 and as basicaly noone out there would ref an LCA for a quart of a degree an LCA of 100 would be nominal. Sounds reasonable enough from an empirical POW when one considers how the engine runs s...
Camshafts
Upcoming winter i plan on ripping the engine of mine apart-again. Point in case being, where do i find specs of OEM duration and LCA angles for the stock sticks of the FZR600? LCA for clarity-Lobe centerline angle. Ie;the interelation between the intake and exhaust cam. Have looked through the OEM ma...

Re: YZF600R engine
As i wrote in my intro post it seems i blew one of my pistons sky high this weekend. There´s a -98 vintage YZF600R engine up for grabs very cheap around here. Mainly to get up n running asap my Q is how large a difference there is adopting the old carbs to the YZF engine? Likewise with the whole tim...
