Hi, I have just gone through the same task, however whilst you are going that far into the cases, you may as well upgrade! I replaced my old 5 speed with a complete 6 speed box out of a YZF750, your new 1st and 6th are almost identical to the old 1st and 5th, but you now have 4 close ratio gears to ...

Re: Manual fan switch for FZR
On the circuit diagram I have for a FZR600 (1991) you need to disconnect the Red with yellow tracer wire from the 20Amp fuse marked Headlight, this will remove the feed to the Instrument lights, headlights and tail lights. As for the fan over-ride switch, this is a mod I have been running for over 2y...

Re: R6/R1 Digital Gauge Swap
dude, did you drill your engine cases with all the tranny parts in place? Because if you did, kiss your engine goodbye. There is going to be metal shavings all over inside there. Also, the casing is a much softer aluminum while the tranny is hardened steel. There is essentially no difference betwee...

Re: R6/R1 Digital Gauge Swap
I would like to ask how many pulses/teeth the device uses for speedo input! if you are using the speedo corrector thingy why not count the teeth on the front sprocket or rear and then calibrate for those settings. It would not require drilling any casings etc, alternatively mount on the front forks ...
Re: Valves?
1000 is 5 Valve per cylinder and therefore special narrow feeler gauges are needed to get into the narrow spaces where you have 3 inlets, I have a set that are 5mm wide, perfect for the job!!!
Hope it helps

Re: Electrical gremlin...
What year and model????
Sounds like a defective neutral wire, can you short the neutral wire to earth/frame and then start?
Is this circuit any better

Yes I was running Anti-freeze for a track-day not a Race day, the officials didn't ask to check any cooling systems.

Re: tire width explained
I removed the stock 18" rear on my 87 Genesis 1000, and replaced it with a 90ish Exup 17" with 170 on, more responsive in turn in, due to lower rotational forces involved (force * radius), and using the 170" I haven't compromised the feel of the rear end either, however I believe a 180 would comprom...
