Re: 1990 FZR 1000 HELP!!!!!!!
You could ALSO try out the Ford Escort ignition coils if you get tired of playing around with it. I can fire my bike right up in the cold with NO choke Great way to NOT kill your battery.

Re: The Carb sync Tool in Wiki section
I don't want to over complicate things either, however I have heard things that you guys may want to take under consideration. My old man, someone who deals with physics for a living and has repaired countless amounts of older cars and bikes, rants on to me about how the "duel bottle" carb sync tool...

Re: Pics of my rebuild.
Very nice job well done! Poor bike was in bad hands it looked like.
Did you do the frame paint yourself? If so, what did you do and use?
And what type or brand high-temp paint did you use for the engine and exhaust?

Red Rapier Inquiry
Does anyone have any information about this red/black bike with "Rapier" on the side of it? It looks like a stout bike and reminds me of the red AKira bike. Would love to know what he did to make the back end look the way it does.

R1/R6 Cluster Gauges help!
I was looking to see if anyone has bought and used an r1 or r6 gauge set from a 2003 model or higher. I want to switch over to a digital gauge, but I don't want anything younger than a 2006 set.

Re: HOW-TO: Electrical MODs by Naeslas
I did this mod setup by neas and am loving the way it makes my bike run. If this is the wrong order of firing and my bike can run better, I'm stoked!!!!! I can't imagine it being better.trifgeorge wrote:Anyone?

Re: WARNING ALL MEMBERS with HAYNES MANUAL
My father says he has found 2 errors in Haynes as well, but all the manuals i put my trust in are "Factory Service Manual" with the type of vehicle. That's it.
Re: Tail swap
If you enjoy the wire feeding welders feel, then you may want to cut up the bike and do the R1 06 tail swap. Most would agree that Yamahas best work on the tail is fro the 04-06 R1 tails.

Re: end of my rope
YG is right, we have mentioned what to check for... Get a car battery by itself and jump it to your bike to give you more starting time, check your spark by pulling the boot off and letting it touch the frame, if spark is fine, take out the tank while everyything is hooked up, remove the hose from y...

also be very careful with letting the radiator hitting your front fender on the back side. I split mine somehow, guess being 20 years old and all, with ease. I was quite surprised and hope my rad touching my fender wont split it anymore.

Re: WARNING ALL MEMBERS with HAYNES MANUAL
I don't know what kind of manual a haynes is, but I put all my trust into the "Factory Service Manuals". They have served my father right for a long time (15 years atleast), and they continue to serve. I put my trust in them and recommend everyone else do the same.

Re: Coolants - Water vs Premixed vs Water Wetter
Here in the southern parts of the states where it gets the hottest, I use 7:3 or 6:4 100% antifreeze to water. It keeps my bike cool with a a fan on. during the 100 degree weathers. Cool as in no more 1/3 up the gauge.

Re: new bike
I use all the basic oils and coolents out there. I use a reg. all purpose (for cars too) antifreeze, DOT 3 brake fluid (yes, same for cars as well), and motorcycle ooil found at any parts store. Sure you can use a fancy version of all of this, but the only thing fancey I would get would be different...
