Re: 1994 Fzr 600- K&N Flo commander Ohlins Racetech Fct Pro $400
Incredible difference over stock springs. I feel that you should view upgrading your rear suspension with consistent increase in suspension too though (no brainer). If you have a week rear and a strong front you won't like your bike as much in the turns. installation wasn't impossible, if you're up ...

1994 Fzr 600- K&N Flo commander Ohlins Racetech Fct Pro $400
1994 Fzr 600 estimated 20k miles. I purches with 7k and the speedo cable failed at 16982 miles. I road it for maybe 3 months after that point then wrecked it. I didn't hit anything, the bike didn't hit anything, just went for a slide. Plastics all gone. Up front is a trail tech baja (I think) dirt b...

Wrecked the other day and would like to say something.
Leather is worth every penny. I was going for a little pleasure ride, hitting some local roads, but not exceeding the speedlimit (not my bag baby). I come up on this nice set of 4 turns, in a 55 zone with brand new asphalt. I think to myself, "sweet, perfectly clear roads and tons of traction". I ge...

Re: What's your MPG ?
No mods other than suspension and I get around 45 mpg with little highway travel, and a healthy use of the throttle.
I have about 17,000 on the clock btw.

Re: The best tire size combination on the FZR-600 ?
With the 3.5 rim I think you'll be needing a 130/60 18 on the rear. the front should be the same however (double check I'm not positive on that figure). As far as spinning the wheel and pushing the front: You shouldn't be loosing traction on your bike. The thinner tires found on our bikes vs. modern...

Don't be intimidated, checking for spark is easy, but it will help to have a buddy press the start button, it can be a stretch on your own.

Re: Changing Oil - choosing the right oil
I'd reccomend diesel engine oil. No friction modifiers, good resistance to viscosity breakdown, Great for our wet clutch and they're cheap!
I've used Mobil delvac, and shell rotella (and mobil one, but that gave me clutch slip)
The delvac wasn't bad, but I like running the 5w40 rotella synthetic.

Re: Can you still get 150/60 18 BT45?
Oh i see. I remember hearing something about the 160/60 tires on our bikes, I guess what I heard was a no go though.
So the difference between a 150/60 and 150/70 is 10 mm more on the OD (outer diameter?)?
Is that like saying the crown of a 150/70 is just more pronounced (10mm ) than a 150/60?

Can you still get 150/60 18 BT45?
It's time for a new rear (about 8,000 miles on current, no tread in the center but still not down to cords) and I want to replace with a stock sized bt45. Problem is I can't find them anywhere except UK based websites (not paying that shipping). I want to get a set of bt014's but not until my front ...

Re: HOW-TO: Fork Seal Replacement
I saw a thread earlier that complained about the difficulty of doing this. It's not hard so long as you can get the front end off the ground with stability. I wouldn't say it's a 3 hour job though. When I did mine I cleaned them in hot soapy water very thoroughly and let them dry overnight. It proba...

Re: Oil fiter Cross Refference
I run a fram ph6017a I know from taurus forums (my four wheeled whip) that frams suck. The only reason I run these is because walmart sells them at half the price of the dealership ones. I usually change filters every 3,000 miles, every other oil change (ish. Depends on money but I change oil at 2,0...

If they can warrantee a 520 kit on a 1000 cc bike, i'm betting that is indeed a typo at 3000

Re: 520 Conversion - WHAT? WHY?
Some say the aluminum sprockets last 3000 miles or more, while others will tell you that they wear out quickly. Wait what? Did you mean 30,000? 3000 miles is nothing, I'd hate to be changing sprockets with every other oil change. I've been thinking of getting myself a 520 kit, but if I can only exp...

Re: Bike died - won't start
Have you tried bump starting it? If you had a weak batterey, it might not have been able to adequately power the starter motor, which would make starting an issue for sure. Push starting is free, and doesn't require you to take the bike apart at all. I would see if you could get it to start from a p...

Re: Starter/kill Button Question
I recently had my stock start button fail on me, so I ran down to radioshack and picked up one of these: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103602&cp=2032058.2032230.2032278&pg=2&parentPage=family It installed easily, fit really well, and only cost five bucks! I'm always out to p...
