Re: Programmable ignitions for your bike
Troy, Basically how it all looks when it is finally mounted up & more importantly where the sensor is mounted . Wondered if the old pickup space is usable or not? Well I'd say based on his pictures here, http://www.tr1x.org/?cat=11 , that after mounting up the 36-1 wheel everything mounted up stock...

Re: Programmable ignitions for your bike
I see what you mean about looking flimsy, but its not interfacing with anything (I mean like a gear set would) so I'm sure its fine. I suspect he was careful about where he put the welds (180 degrees apart) and didn't rebalanced it....I know I wouldn't worry about that little bit considering how muc...

Re: Programmable ignitions for your bike
I wanted to ask about that (36-1 toothed wheel ) it is shown as being on a table with other bits (I have seen so many pictures of various projects of late do not ask me where ) I know it is part of the sensor for timing set up but where on a Yamaha would you fit it since the flywheel rotates betwee...

Re: Programmable ignitions for your bike
Yeah, I had megajolt in mind too. I was just wondering if he developed code specifically to read the RD400 or R1 trigger wheels or is just using a 36-1. If you'd have to modify the stock flywheel/rotor I personally think that at ~$200 usd the IgniTech would be a better/easier way to go because it wo...

Re: Programmable ignitions for your bike
Thanks for the link, thats an interesting way to mount the 36-1 wheel on the flywheel/rotor.
So has he developed new circuit boards/software?, or is he just using a Megasquirt to control ignition as that website indicates?
I like that touchscreen gauge/gps computer screen!

Re: 660 conversion
Hey Cad, I got that seal too, so we'll both find out.....I'm still a long way from that project though. I don't think I"ve posted it here, but if you interested in the differences in the ignitions, I've made some slides, YZF600 1995-1996 (I havn't been able to find any info on the 97+, I suspect bec...

Re: bike modding...
Hey if it helps, I posted this info at the archives about the intake differences between the FZR and YZF's, http://www.fzrarchives.com/ipb/index.php?showtopic=30847&st=68 ...I was looking into it for another member recently, so I snapped some pictures and made up a slide that shows the differences b...

Re: swingarm caps
Ok, just checking, sometimes that part just falls right out of the bearing (and rolls away  ) and othertimes it takes a press to get it out. Just thinking out loud here, but if your concerned about keeping the wheelbase closer to stock FZR, couldn't you also grind out a little bit of the front...

Re: swingarm caps
85 ftlbs is the FSM spec. Did you re align the wheel before torquing? Are you sure you've got all the parts installed? I know how swaps go sometimes; if you don't remove the parts from the donor bike yourself, you don't know whats missing. Here's a diagram, if part number 12 is missing it might caus...

Re: swingarm caps
This is a common problem on YZF swingarms when you don't have the rear axle nut torqued enough.
What are you torquing it too? The FSM says 85 ft-lbs.

Re: Still wont start!
Just to be clear, when you say "Still no spark" do you mean that you check the spark plugs and they aren't sparking or do you mean that the motor isn't firing? There are only a few things that will cause plugs not to spark, but there are a lot of things that will cause the motor not to fire. At a gu...

Re: Still wont start!
Thanks for answering the questions, that elimates a few things I was thinking might be the problem. I've reread what you wrote before a few times. I'm not sure fully understand what is or isn't working with the kickstand switch. It should start with the starter in two ways, first is with the bike in...

Re: Still wont start!
2 quick questions for you:
1. Have you checked for +12V at the coils? (red/white wires I think)
2. With that R1 front, what are you using for a main switch; is it the stock FZR in a different location?

Strangest FZR600 streetfighter you'll see...video
Just ran across this.....
