Engine: Strip down or sell complete
I must now part out my 1997 FZR600, as I cannot give it more time or money. I will either sell the motor complete or strip it down and sell the parts. Which will gather more interest? It has an improperly installed piston ring in one cylinder and a small head gasket leak. The head has new intake val...

Steps to Carb Tuning
My 91 just had a new set of intake valves installed on new seats, and I have just re-adjusted the valves and bench synched the carbs. the engine has a jet kit installed with (I am told by the company) appropriate jet sizes for my 4800 ft elevation and Micron 4-1 exhaust. I know that I now need to dy...

Re: Regarding FZR Paint
Question is, again: Where, on the engine, is there bare aluminum, and where is there the silver paint?

Re: DMV problems
In Idaho, and without a title, but with a paper trail of bill of sales, I was able to get a "conditional title" that would suffice for the time, but which would be subject to any claims by previous owners claiming theft.

Regarding FZR Paint
My bike came with several layers of flaking black over orange over primer paint on the frame, and I am paitiently scraping/stripping it to get back to factory original silver. I know the engine was at least partially the same silver and maybe some plain aluminum. On the engine, just where is the pai...

Re: Motor oils
I've heard Honda VFR riders rave about standard 15W40 oil on their bikes with 100000 miles. They claim it gives better protection in the heat. I've always used non-motorcyle oil. Theres really no difference, except you need to avoid using any oils with friction modifiers, or any from API Rating SJ t...

Re: Do yer own valve job
Well, I lucked out in one sense. I After I realized the seats weren't square and couldn't be lapped into shape for a new set of valves, I went to a couple of professionals. The dealer wanted $250 to cut eight seats and reassemble; a machinist shop wanted to use only a stone, then I found Franz Auto ...

Do yer own valve job
After an unsuccessful carb. sync. on my '90 FZR engine, I realized that my intake valves are indeed ready to be replaced, (as I was told when I had new seals installed) so I ordered eight new ones. I then called the machinist to have new valve seats cut on the head. After explaining to him why I wan...
