Re: Fuel Injection kits for the FZR400, FZR600, YZF600

nice one. Keep us posted on progress. I've just started renting a small unit in a local industrial estate for my partner's business. Having spoken to the chap next door a couple of times about bikes and cars, it seems my new neighbour is a friendly CNC and machine shop. So if you need anything made ...

Re: Fuel Injection kits for the FZR400, FZR600, YZF600

Sounds like a great idea but i would rather sell my fzr and buy a newer bike than to but 1500 into a 16 year old bike that soon might have more problems if you update the computers and modify it that much. But in kits ot if it could be a few hundered cheaper then it might be worth the time and effo...

Re: Fuel Injection kits for the FZR400, FZR600, YZF600

<delurk> I've been contemplating this very same mod for quite a while. From my point of view, when you consider that a set of flat-slide carbs to fit the FZR400 I have would set you back about 1200GBP new (IF you can find someone with them). In comparison, the same amount for a plug-in FI kit doesn'...

Ignition switch query

I've replaced the main ignition barrel switch on my 3EN2 model. I've connected up a simple switch to turn the ignition on and off, and it works. However, I'm confused. There's 6 wires coming out of the ignition barrel. two red/white, two red/yello and two blue/something. I've identified that the blu...

Re: Mega/Microsquirt ECUs

That had crossed my mind. But with 36 teeth or more, it's only the missing tooth that has to be exact, and the rest if the timing adjustment can be done in software. Once the missing tooth is set properly, there's no requirement for movement.

Re: Mega/Microsquirt ECUs

I had a brief chat with one of the guys at http://trigger-wheels.com/store/contents/en-uk/d31.html and the trigger wheels they supply look very similar to the kind used on one of Yamaha_George's links. I envisage skimming the flywheel a little in the lathe, getting a trigger wheel cut with a large i...

Re: Mega/Microsquirt ECUs

(topic updated) Without going out to the garage and stripping my engines further, does the 400 have a relevant timing/trigger wheel already in place, or is that something I'd have to look at sorting out too? The chaps that do the microsquirt package I linked to specialise in triggerwheels. http://t...

Re: Flatslide carbs

Everything on the list except the O2 sensor and the Microsquirt itself can come from an 03=05 R6 (or 06+ R6S - you DON'T want the servo-operated TBs of the R6R). Don't forget, if you use a WBO2 sensor, you need a controller to go with it. Feef - you won't be 'remapping' the controller, since it isn...

Re: Flatslide carbs

Most of that seems to be either stock or modified R6 bits, and a couple of custom components.

I'd expect to get it all for much less than £1200 if that's the case.

I take it all the sensors would happily work with the smaller engine then?

I'd also expect it would need remapping?

Re: Flatslide carbs

Just fuel inject it! If I came up with a fuel injection kit that cost as much as new flat slides. Would you buy it? That would be an interesting proposition indeed. IF it would also fit other 400s then I'd be very interested. Depends how good it is, tho. I know how hard it's been for some big name ...

Re: Flatslide carbs

I'm aware of that discussion, but noone's actually come up with an answer as to whether the Mikunis fit or not, not least as to whether the 34mm is too large for a 400. I was involved in the dicussion on one of the other lists mentioned... I'm still up for contributing to a group purchase if anyone ...

Mega/Microsquirt ECUs

I've been looking about for flatslides for my FZR400 project track/race bike. I have been told there were both Keihin and Mikunis that would fit, and while I can find the Keihin FCR 33mm carbs, they aren't cheap. The only Mikunis I can find are 34mm, and I've been told by a supplier that they don't ...
