Thanks great master!

I checked RonAyers but I guess late and doing it on my phone led to my fail.

Re: Oil change and clutch is slipping

Just pulled my clutch, the springs are too short :(. The plates are all within spec. The springs are all ~44mm and the spec min is 54. I guess its time to get new clutch springs.

On that note, where can I find a clutch cover gasket? I'm not having Google luck.

Re: Oil change and clutch is slipping

see now im using a barnett clutch kit with lucas oil full synthetic with no slipping so idk, maybe the stiffer springs make up for it? Yes, but had you used non-synth with these plates, or did you change plates and oil at the same time? RR's point was that changing oil types can cause issues due to...

Re: Oil change and clutch is slipping

darn. Oh well, today is work on the motorcycle day anyway. Ill pick up some Castrol GTX today and a new filter. Ill pull the clutch and clean the plates and then when I put it I'll make sure it's aligned properly. It slips so little I almost want to leave it, but I sure as hell dont want any damage ...

Oil change and clutch is slipping

I know this pops up all the time but I think my search fu is terrible I cant find the answer Im looking for. I recently changed my oil with Motul T7100 full syn. (http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/9/197/21118/ITEM/Motul-7100-Synthetic-Oil-4T.aspx ). Ive started to notice some slight clutch slip...

Re: 110 links is standard, 108 viable?

So I was going to just make an extra link out of the 10 like taggy mentioned. After test fitting with everything and 108 links I had just over enough slack for proper tension and I just tightened it all up with a few less links. So for those wondering, it is viable with stock gearing. Any larger and...

110 links is standard, 108 viable?

I was installing a new chain today, bought a 120 and only needed 110 links. Ok, I've read it's easy to just grind off the end of one of the rivets and punch it through the other side and get the length you need. Well, I ground down a LITTLE (half a mm?) too far. I nicked the cylinder that goes throu...

Re: Tach Dead (electrical issue)

Ugh, I feel so stupid. It was the fuse, everything is fine now. :duh:

I just jumped to odd conclusions and thought it was something complex once the brake lever made everything work again.

Anyway, thank you for your help

Re: Tach Dead (electrical issue)

Just checked the voltage. 14.5 @ 5k. Still VR if it's lower? I also checked my tail lights and apparently they werent secure in the housing when I installed them last. They're both laying under the seat shattered to hell. Filiments are all broken and whatnot, might have something to do with it. Im g...

Tach Dead (electrical issue)

I was riding along yesterday and about 100mi into the ride I noticed my tachometer was at 0. I pulled over to shut the bike off hoping maybe it was some small thing and turning it off and on again would work. Well, it didnt, and while stopped I noticed my neutral light and blinkers stopped working, ...

Re: New ride for my GF

I WISH I could convince my GF to ride with me. She hates the damn things (though thankfully she supports my obsession/other love). One of my buddies has the opposite situation where his GF wants to ride with him, badly. But she's been in a three avoidable wrecks that we're both convinced she caused,...

Re: Easy 17" wheel swap?

Interesting. Ill have to do some measuring tomorrow on my swingarm (I'd rather not have to cut anything, Im OK with spacers, but not shaving anything off). My biggest concern is the shock. I'd obviously like to upgrade my rear shock, but not at the cost of having to weld anything (I cant weld). Ken,...

Re: Bike dies while riding woes

Ok, bike is all put back together and Im assuming working. Using the diagram Kilika listed above (which I know is for a 600) I did some testing (assuming it'd be close). My battery voltage with no load is 13.3, at 3kRPM it's 15.2, pretty close to the range of a normal working bike. I feel I can chal...

Re: Bike dies while riding woes

After not checking if its plugged in or not, like an idiot. I feel I've found the cause of my battery drainage. The voltage regulator wasnt getting power due to a FIRE on the wire. http://i40.tinypic.com/2ppem42.jpg WHICH brings me to my next concern. What could have caused this? Could the VR still ...

Re: Bike dies while riding woes

Just got back from my bike. Had to do a bit more research before I head back out, but I got between 3.9-4.3 ohms where the brushes rest on the rotor, so that's all good.

I guess the VR must be the issue.
