my bike needs a thermostat, but one from Yamaha is $35.00.

Does any one know a cheap alternative ??

Will this interchange with a small car or other bikes ??

Dont run the motor more than absolutely necessary and make sure you change the oil immediately after finding the problem !! Gasoline greatly reduces the lubricity of oil and you can kill a motor in just a few hundred miles with oil that has been contaminated by gasoline !!

CHANGE THAT OIL !!

Is there supposed to be a light in the temp gauge for a 1988 FZR 1000 ??

My speedo and tech are both well lit...temp gauge is dark....

Since you are changing parts, now is a great time install a 17" wheel, there are few 18" tires for the OE wheel...

Also, anything can be made to fit if you have time, determination, access to machine tools and money....

Hey all I have a 1988 FZR 1000 that sat for 5 years before I bought it... I thought I cleaned the carbs real well, but when I fired it, it "stumbles" when I give partial it throttle. Doesnt spit or sputter, just kinda hesitates and then will go again. I rode it about a 1/4 mile, when it hit 4000 rpm...

Are you sure its an exhaust leak ? I have found that exhaust leak on bikes to be very rare, especially on mid 80's and newer... could it be motor noise ?

What about 525 chain ??

I lost the two brackets that go on other side of the front fairing stay... They are # 10 and # 16 in the diagram, click the link below... If any one has an extra pair, I will buy them ?? If I want to go with a 530 chain, do I have to get sprockets specifically for a 530 ??

Hey -

I have a 88' FZR 1K, that needs a chain and sprockets... I have no idea what the numbers mean, 532, 520, 530... I dont even know whats on it now...

Any one have a recommendation on chain size/number ?
