Re: Sputtering / Clanking

It's only at low RPMs, or when your bogging like 3rd @ 20mph but when you're moving at a steady pace and with any type of throttle input it sounds normal

Re: Sputtering / Clanking

Ran some carb cleaner, and it seems to be running 100% better then it was before the clanking is mainly gone except when "bogging" / at a very low rpm and decellling

Sputtering / Clanking

Okay so I got my rim from Target30, got the new chain/sprockets install and I'm ready to go right? Wrong. Whenever I try to take off I stall, and I HIGHLY doubt its a driver error, no matter how slow I let it out, or no matter how much I rev it it will stall. Sometimes when I do get it moving, if I ...

Re: Transmission ticking noises

Is it worth to shell out the extra money for yamalube?

In my automotives class we were discussing how a 10w-30 oil is a 10w-30 oil in a car, and the names dont mean shit. I don't know how that applies to switching between motorcycles and bikes though.

Re: Transmission ticking noises

okay that makes me a lot less nervous now. so should the lashing get "worse" (louder) when I let go of the clutch while in gear then?

and does 10w-40 (car) motor oil cause the clutch to potentially slip?

Transmission ticking noises

on my 98 fzr-600 everytime I pull the clutch back and put it into any gear WITHOUT engaging the clutch again I heard this ticking / rattling noise and it usually gets louder and louder as I go from 1--->6. If I let go of the clutch it gets louder. Now I'm really hoping its not shift fork or drums an...

Re: Transmission noise

Guy who sold it to me said 15k, but I don't believe it. It has a new speedo so mileage is innacurate. I did do an oil change to it, and it alleviated a lot of wierd noises transmission/engine wise. I'm going to be installing sprockets / chain soon so I will have the side cover off soon to be able to...

Transmission noise

Just bought the bike, it has been sitting for a while. 1998 fzr-600. After letting it warm up for about 10 minutes if I pull the clutch in and shift to 4 / 5 / 6 it makes like a rattling type noise and when I engage the clutch it gets worse. What could this be? It doesn't always happen for 4 / 5 / 6...

Re: How to Fix brake resoivor/cylinder problem

I need a torque wrench, and the tools. I'll look into it, because I definitely would like to do the labor on my bike to cut back on costs and just to learn more about maintenance and stuff. Thanks for the info! If you have any other links to throw my way I'd be more than glad to see them

Re: How to Fix brake resoivor/cylinder problem

How hard is a new sprocket / chain install? I know a chain install is around $40 which I assume it's something worth having a shop do but what about sprockets?
