Streetfighter Turned Racebike
Finished getting the motor back together and put the newly painted bodywork on her for the racetrack. I took these an hour or two ago while I was waiting to go out on the track.

Re: FZR400/600 Streetfighter
Thanks for the kind remarks, this little bike has become kind of an obsession. ;-) It's now got full fairings for the racetrack and the subframe has been completely sorted. The bodywork is off getting painted and should be back in a week or two. I'll post some more pictures of it then. In the meanti...

Re: Remove the Mirror Stay?
I seem to remember that working OK without the weight of the mirrors on there, but it's been a long time since I had a stock stay so I could be mistaken.

Re: front wheel bearing help
The other thing to remember is that if you do find the need to tap them with something, make sure you only hit the steel, outside edge of the bearing. An easy way to do this is to use a socket that is the same diameter as the bearing. Lay it on top of the bearing and gently tap on it with a rubber m...

Re: Peanut/Comma Cover
I have a cover from a YZF600 with a few scratches that should work. I've also got a Vance & Hines race cover for the FZR600. I'd let the YZF cover go for $45 + shipping. I'd sell the race cover for $80 + shipping. http://lh4.ggpht.com/_WpqI95fcSp8/S_WwGvRUqOI/AAAAAAAABMQ/gELlyaHHjvE/s400/2010-05-20%...

Re: FZR400/600 Streetfighter
After the first track day with the new subframe back in April, I discovered a couple of minor things that needed to be addressed. The subframe itself was perfect, but I needed to do some work to the rear shock. Traxxion Dynamics in SC did a very nice job of rebuilding the old FZR400 Fox Shock I had ...

Re: FZR400/600 Streetfighter
The tailsection is an Airtech Aero TZ250 piece. In the pictures above, it's mounted to the stock subframe, but it was always a bit more of a rig job than I wanted. I've since built a custom subframe to replace the stock one that is designed specifically to mount that tailsection. http://lh6.ggpht.co...

Re: FZR400/600 Streetfighter
Slow but steady progress. The new side plates are designed and cut. They will connect the middle tube to the frame on each side. Tomorrow I'll make the shock mount assembly that will get welded to the center of the new tube. http://zerothelement.com/images/motorcycles/project-fighter/subframe-2-640....

Re: FZR400/600 Streetfighter
I'll take some pictures of the brackets this afternoon to post. In the meantime, you can make very sturdy little 'L' shaped brackets that will work nicely by cutting sections of this (choose the appropriate size): http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=215967-37672-11337&lpage...

Re: FZR400/600 Streetfighter
The radiator is mounted with two aluminum brackets at the top which bolt directly to the frame and a third that extends out from the motor on the bottom. I custom made each from raw material so they fit exactly as I intended and it works pretty well. It's every bit as solid as the stock FZR mounts w...
